About the job

At Avy, we are committed to ensuring high reliability and safety in our autonomous aircraft. To support this goal, we are seeking a Reliability & Test Engineer to join our System Architecture & Performance team. In this role, you will focus on enhancing the reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety (RAMS).

You will be the first dedicated Test & Reliability Engineer, giving you plenty of opportunity to shape the role. While you’ll be the sole specialist in this field, you'll work closely with the System Engineer as part of the System Architecture & Performance team.

This role blends analytical expertise with hands-on testing, playing a key role in enhancing the robustness, safety and operational reliability of our aircraft.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Integrate reliability improvements and work closely with other engineering teams.

  • Conduct environmental and stress testing to validate system performance under real-world conditions.

  • Analyse test results and flight logs, diagnose failures, and provide recommendations for design and operational improvements.

  • Develop test automation setups for long-term endurance and performance testing.

  • Establish a failure-tracking system and calculate reliability parameters, such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).

About you

For this role, we are looking for someone with a strong background in reliability engineering, testing, and failure analysis.

The following applies to you:

  • You have a degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Reliability Engineering or a related field.

  • Over three years of experience in a similar role - preferably in aerospace or another safety-critical industry

  • Strong background in RAMS analysis methods such as FMEA and fault tree analysis.

  • You are skilled in designing and executing mechanical, electrical, and system-level tests.

It’s a big plus if you have experience with UAS testing and certification, as well as familiarity with avionics, flight control systems, and power systems. A background in environmental and performance testing for aerospace applications is also valuable. Additionally, proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data analysis and test automation would be highly beneficial.

As a proactive, detail-oriented and analytical engineer, you excel both independently and in cross-disciplinary collaboration. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoy blending hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and data-driven analysis to enhance system reliability.
